Nor Loch

Our Namesake

The ancient Nor’ Loch is steeped in the history of Edinburgh. Centuries ago it sat in front of Market Street at the foot of the Castle rock, now occupied by Princes Street Gardens, and was part of the natural defences of the old town to hinder invaders. Inspired by this historic icon Nor’ Loft now takes its place as part of the city’s Old Town character.

  • Nor' Loft is a contemporary rooftop champagne lounge and bar located on the 7th floor of Market Street hotel in the city-centre of Edinburgh. Offering spectacular views across Edinburgh's New Town, guests can enjoy a selection of champagnes from independent growers to prestigious champagne houses, with many available by the glass or bottle. Our enviable champagne list is complimented by a food menu of sharing dishes showcasing the best of Scottish ingredients fused with global flavours.

  • Nor' Loft is located on the 7th floor of Market Street hotel in the Old Town area of the city at 6 Market Street, Edinburgh, EH1 1DE. We are just a 1-minute walk from Edinburgh Waverley Station, a 3-minute walk from Princes Street, a 4-minute walk from The Royal Mile, a 7-minute walk from Edinburgh Castle, and 8-minute walk from the St James Centre, and a 10-minute walk from Calton Hill.

  • When space allows, we do welcome walk-ins but making a reservation is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment. Make a reservation here.


    Our curated experiences such as Afternoon Tea, Summer Feast, or Cheese Fondue, must be booked at least 48 hours in advance.

  • Yes - with capacity for up to 40 guests, Nor' Loft provides the ideal backdrop for family milestones, office socials, and catch-ups with friends. Explore our tailored food and drink packages or opt for a bespoke option for a truly unique experience. Find out more here.

  • We do not have a car park on-site. We recommend guests to use the Edinburgh Waverley Station car park (operated by APCOA) on New Street, Edinburgh, EH8 8BH, which is a 7-minute walk away from Nor' Loft.

     

    Please note there is a total of 537 spaces, with 84 of them being electric car charging spaces.

  • Yes - Nor' Loft is wheelchair accessible with step-free entry, direct lift access to the 7th floor, and an accessible bathroom.

  • Our rooftop Champagne lounge is the ideal setting for a variety of occasions:

    • Celebrating a birthday, anniversary, or engagement.
    • Graduation celebration drinks from The University of Edinburgh, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh Napier University, or Queen Margaret University.
    • Date nights.
    • Catch-ups with friends and family.
    • Christmas office socials.
    • Pre-theatre/show drinks for shows at the Edinburgh Playhouse which is a 14-minute walk away (0.6 miles), Edinburgh Fringe Festival or The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo which is just a 7-minute walk away (0.4 miles).
    • Summer parties or special gatherings such as The 2026 Royal Garden Party at The Palace of Holyrood House taking place on Tuesday 30 June 2026. The Palace of Holyrood House is a 14-minute walk away (0.7 miles) from Nor' Loft.
